Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco

Have you seen the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco (history, reviews, wiki) during the daytime? It's beautiful, isn't it? I have been twice in the daytime and have seen one wedding there.  Here it is in the night time.  It took my breath away!

Roasted Kabocha Squash

I'll admit now that I don't usually measure ingredients.  But I err on the healthy side. Kabocha squash!  I know, I know, it's a fall/winter squash and it's summer.  I guess you can see how much I like kabocha.   1          kabocha squash 1 tbsp  liquid coconut oil             salt             pepper Heat oven to 400 degrees F.  Chop up kabocha (I use a cleaver.  Make sure your knife is sharp, because kabocha is hard to cut) into slices.  Toss in a bowl with coconut oil, salt, and pepper.  Roast for 30 minutes, flipping them over at the 15 minute point. It's delicious and filling!!  Even K who doesn't like coconuts liked it.  K said it smelled like butter :D

Haiku

Hi everyone! Here is a low-maintenance way to keep an eye on some things I'm doing in my life. Here's the history to the name of the blog: At the Department of Mathematics' Commencement Ceremony, it is a tradition for students to write his or her "Future Plans" and have this be read aloud while he or she walks across the stage.  Partly because I prefer(red? I am  starting this blog) a little anonymity and partly because I cherish a good joke, I enlisted the help of a most-poetic friend to help me come up with a playful "Future Plan."  During Spring Break, we wrote potential words on Post-Its and came up with this haiku: Trav'ling whisperer: Lacking sound...waning silence Yearning to claim seas Have a haiku to share? Running Before the Sun Goes Down

I live in America, and Daylight Saving Time (DST) just ended on November 2, 2014.  Using DST makes more of an impact on those areas not too far or too close to the equator (for example, Singapore is very close to the equator and does not manipulate the clock).  Whether the impact is positive or negative is not agreed upon. So I guess we are in a period of Daylight Spending Time (DST as well, I coined this term poorly because the acronyms are the same), meaning working folk spend most of the daylight at work.  I'm trying to avoid any derogatory antonyms of "saving." Luckily, I was out of work before the sun went down sometime last week, and on my run, I got to see this awesome view.  I would not say this trail is gorgeous (also have been hissed at by geese on this trail)...but look at those colors!
